Narrative
Description of the Project: The main objective of the project was to prepare an
O&M Manual for the Teesta Barrage and its Canal Head Regulator.
Procedures were to be developed for the safe and efficient operation of the
Teesta Barrage and the Canal Head Regulator, which would also include
operation of the silt trap, Flood Bypass. The operation of Canal Head
Regulator will incorporate irrigation delivery schedule minimising silt entry
into the canal. The O & M Manual will also include routine, periodic and
emergency maintenance procedures. The project includes training of the BWDB
staff for the operation and maintenance and also a mathematical model was
established at the project site whereby quick decision on operational matters
could be taken. The work included study of dredging of river Teesta upstream
and down stream of the Barrage and dredging of silt-trap. |

Actual Services Provided by our company: Collection
of available data, maps, drawings, existing operation manual of the Teesta
Barrage, and other barrages, reviewing the related reports, maps, data etc.
Study the water requirements, availability, setting up hydro meteorological
telemetering station for real time water level and discharge monitoring.
Developed Sediment Transport Rating Curve, assessment of sediment load and
sediment balance. Recommend sediment analysis and observation procedure,
hydrographic survey, recommend survey vessel and equipment. Established Set
Rule for O&M of Barrage including training and transfer of technology
etc. |
