Narrative
Description of the Project: Bangladesh Water Development Board installed many low
lift pump (LLP) for irrigation in North Western Region of Bangladesh along
the river Koratoa, Atrai-Punarbhaba-Deepa Kanta, etc. In course of time many
of these LLP schemes were abandoned due to shifting of river course and
non-availability of water. Low Lift Pump Irrigation Block No. 4, 5 and 8
under 60 Electrical Low Lift Pump located in the district of Panchaghar and
Dinajpur District in the right bank of the river Atrai is included in the
present study. Due to shifting of the thalweg time of the river, supply of
irrigation water in LLP Block No. 4 is suspended from 1998. Major components
of the scheme are as follows: -
Collection of water
through permeable pipe buried into river bed -
Water to be collected
at some well tank/sump whichever is suitable -
Water to be pumped
for irrigation to nearby area. |
