Detailed Narrative Description of the Project:

 

The project area covers a part of Comilla district (Daudkandi, Chandina, Baruria and Laksham upazila) and Chandpur district (sadar, Hajiganj, Sharsti, Matlab, and Kachua upazila). The area suffers from early flooding and drainage congestion. The area is deeply flooded area. The standing Irri-boro crop of the low lying area are being frequently damaged due to early flood. On the other hand, during dry season the area suffers for shortage of irrigation water although there is sufficient water in the periphery. The main problem of the project area are:

·         Lack of Irrigation facilities

·         Lack of derange facilities

·         Damages of standing crops, infrastructure, homestead due to pre-monsoon flood

 

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided by our company:

 

The objective of the project is to protect the project (127,000 ha. approx.) area from flooding and to provide irrigation and drainage facilities to increase agricultural production. Services include: Review of existing drainage and irrigation system, topographical surveys, hydrological and morphological data collection, socio-economic data and assessment of ongoing surveys and data collection activities with reference to their adequacy and collect new data as necessary for the feasibility study. Assessment to reduce damage to agriculture by controlling floods and improving post-monsoon drainage. Establish design criteria and planning concept, prepare project layouts, engineering design and drawings of relevant project components. Preparation of cost estimates of project works, proposal for improving drainage, water management, project implementation and institutional infrastructures in the area.
